What would you call a sound with just the right mixture of melody, harmony, and integrity…a pleasurable intermingling of classical, pop, jazz, and country? The answer is Jim Hudak. Jim Hudak, whose last name means "the musician" in Slovakian, was born into a family with a 500-year history of music and composition. He has spent a lifetime studying, composing, performing, and recording music. He is also a veteran of the music business who served as a music rights executive for ASCAP and a Vice-President for SESAC. Additionally, he managed a retail record store for five years, and was a radio host/reporter for eight years. Brainstorm Records, Jim’s independent label, has just released Bridging Textures, his fifth CD of piano based instrumental music. This landmark CD features all original music and was produced by Will Ackerman, the legendary guitarist and founder of Windham Hill Records. Bridging Textures includes the world-renowned talents of Michael Manring on fretless bass and Tracy Silverman on violin, Mary Fettig on saxophone, Derrik Jordan on percussion, and other fine musicians. Together they’ve collaborated to create a one-of-a-kind record of beautiful and emotional instrumental music. All of Jim’s CD's have received worldwide acclaim as exceptional works of brilliant musicianship. His knack for choosing top quality songs from unique and diverse sources, along with the recordings of his outstanding original songs, have earned his music popular and critical praise. His CD's receive national and international airplay from radio stations and satellite music networks from around the world. His is truly "instrumental music for the 21st century." While best known for his piano based instrumental music, Jim has written or co-written hundreds of songs that include lyrics. Indeed, many of the original songs recorded on his first five CD's have lyrics already written, a fact unknown to much of his audience. He plans to record an album with vocals in the not too distant future. Occasionally he displays his outstanding skills as both a vocalist and guitarist at his performances. Jim Hudak currently resides in Northern California near San Francisco. He performs over 250 dates per year, primarily on the west coast.
